What is your name?
Is the way it starts out when you meet someone new
our social inequities start inside, its true
We build a new friendship but that all takes time,
We find we have things in common, but thats all sublime
We love to meet someone we can be close to,
Sometimes, however that's hard to do.
We all have a wall up to some degree
To form that new relationship, we must have chemistry
I wish life made it easier to make friends and see,
who you truly are, and then I will show me.
Meeting at a grocery store or on the corner at a street,
It does not really matter, its about the people we meet.
Thank you so much Bene for your comment. I appreciate you posting.
This is something society needs. i always manage to strike up a conversation in the store, and many different places. We talk about many things, but we never ask each other our names.
I would love to hear this poem read out loud..!
This sings to me, i have struggled over the past few years to make friends as i suffered/suffer with agoraphobia, social anxiety disorder and depression amongst many things, so it took me a long time to find myself again and start to make friends in a world that felt alien. poety really can touch emotion in a way that other art forms sometimes struggle with. thanks for posting such a thought provoking piece
