The Dragon of Ice
Cool wind tonight, wicked the blow, Kinda reminds me of a night long ago. Dragon’s icy breath though you think would be hot, But oh, my dear no it was not.
Frozen the land it did, people shivered and shook, Why your face would freeze with just one look. Such laughter as he terrorized the forbidden sky, Waiting for a victim in their balloons to fly by.
That was their source of flight back in time, And them that tried to slay the dragon from up high. Each time he laughed a frozen soldier fell from the sky, As the balloon’s plummeted in a deadly dive.
Bravery my lads, who was up to the task, Who could survive an icy cold blast? Oh yes, the lad was hot, so hot, all the women swooned, But was he enough to save the village from doom?
No, not he. Looks were not everything. A breakable ice figure, the bard a new ballad to sing. The ladies all cried their hearts all but broken, A new hero looked on, his words unspoken.
Fire and ice did not mix, he knew this well, After his mission, he would have a tale to tell. An outcast, an introvert, a silent lad all alone, All his life he had been here totally unknown.
To the tallest fig tree bow and arrows in hand, Flames to the arrows as hot as they could stand. Expert skills a flaming shot to the head, The dragon looked for his attacker, for ice he bled.
Not long did he live for many arrows stung his face, Frozen icicles were falling all over the place. The dragon crashed to the ground broken pieces and parts, A flaming arrow found his icy heart.
A smile on the lads face now as he jumped from the tree, He smiled as he thought, “They are running to thank me.” Alas, it was not so. They tried to thaw the hot lad, Downcast, what a tragedy he was terribly sad.
He walked away shoulders slumped in defeat, He would move away to a monk’s retreat. His life had been that so far anyway, Why not just go far, far, away?
“Hey, you, hey you, where are you going now?” “A party in your honor throughout the whole town.” Mr. Handsome had been pushed to the sunshine to thaw, No one cared if he made it to the party at all.
A new hero, new friend, and new watchtower guard, He enjoyed his new life. Making friends was not that hard. He was not handsome, all that, nor witty, But he caught HER eye, now what do you think of that my pretty’s?
