We were born against the formless black,
as tiny sparks among the stars.
Weightless beings birthed from ash and dust
of cosmic rays and golden bars.
I felt you there in space,
a beaming soul which brimmed with light.
You bubbled over endlessly
and sprinkled fire in my eyes.
I sang along to symphonies
orchestrated by your heart,
an unborn sun I basked beside,
as the pulsing slowly sparked.
I know you watched me dancing,
Swaying there beside your glow.
You smiled and heard my siren's call
from deep inside your shadow.
Of course, you don't remember.
Blood and bones made you forget.
That's the reason why I stuffed my moon beams
into a body that doesn't fit.
Yes, I followed you
into this cold and bitter place,
a world where I can't feel the heat
of your glow upon my face.
I thought I'd made a mistake,
that I'd lost you to the void.
I thought the darkness here
would kill me until I heard your voice.
And now I'm here to wake you,
to remind you of your soul.
That radiant, effulgent fire
you're hiding deep inside the hollow.
My eyes can see beneath those bones
You marked them long ago
and made me promise to
remind you of your wisdom should it go.
So awaken brilliant sun,
show this world of night your dawn.
Melt this icy place of darkness
and lighten it with warmth.
And when you're done with shining,
when you're ready for the stars,
I'll hang beside you brightly
in the void that once was ours.
Jessica, this is truly stellar work! From beginning to end, it captivates you and pulls you into its trance like a dream. Outstanding job! Loved it!
Thank you Lee!
Really like it all, and "Of course, you don't remember / Blood and bones made you forget" is exceptional...
