The petulant midday sun
Raging, blazing, vindictive orbit at its zenith
It's blinding glare, a white hot disc
Scorching and oppressive
Over the earth and living ones
A merciless sentinel in the cerulean sky
Wrapping us in its stifling embrace
A shimmering mirage dancing in the air.
