No Escape
Set forth the chills, darkness descends,
A lantern lit a means to an end.
Come. Sit. I will tell you true,
Shadows play against the full of the moon.
Darkness comes. ‘Neath the shadows beings crawled. No one knows their name or what they are. They just exist. A soft breeze. No. Not a breeze, but a moan. It was more than a whisper on the wind. So soft. So desperate. So eerie.
Do you hear it? Can you hear it? It comes slowly, but with a lightning anger and a rage brought forth. A speed unknown to common man.
Sound travels. The earth shakes. Throughout the valley, thunderous explosions tear through the land ripping it apart. Fear so terrifying the sound of a loudly beating heart. The chest will rise and fall, the breath will seek the air.
Where is a refuge? There is none nearby. Look. A tunnel. Shadowed raven’s wings cannot compare to the eerie blackness that it held. Tunnel? Was it really a tunnel or was it death’s tomb? It did not matter. I was safe. The demon beings stopped.
Silence. They did not move. As statues, they kept their peace. Good then. It would not be long until the sun rose in the sky. Nightmares always went away in the daylight.
Breath calmed, beat of the heart settling, and fear easing somewhat.
Until.
A scream escaped breaking the silence. Over and over the scream that would scare even the most evil demons away.
Hundreds and hundreds of apparitions appeared inside the tunnel. Death had captured their souls here. Their bodies never found, never removed.
Surrounded now. Screams no longer heard for echoes of a past song, or maybe a chant, filled the tunnel. No room to move. Pushed toward the center of the tunnel.
Winds rage held the sound of a train. No. That could not be right. There were no trains riding this track anymore. And yet, there it was. It rode the wind's wrath, twisting and turning.
No escape. Another lost soul to walk the tracks on a dark eerie night.
Beware the shadow beings crawling at night. They lead to… well, you figure it out.

Thank you.
Scary! But the truth is our world can be very scary - in many ways. Great story and you really did a great job at bringing the whole 'eerie scene' of devils and demons in the night lurking to enhance and dramatize your point!
