Rockers creaking upon the porch, fall is in the air, Leaves changing colors, breeze blowing them everywhere. He reaches for her hand, looks at her and smiles, He just wants to hold her hand for a while.
Age had caught them. Many wrinkles, arthritis, and pain, It is much worse today. Must be going to rain. He traces the wrinkles on her hand with his fingers, And upon her wedding band, his fingers linger.
Fifty years today he had met the love of his life, Never once regretting the day he made her his wife. Many sleepless nights birthing animals on the farm, She kept his the fire going and his food warm
Such a good team they made their kids grown and gone, But they did not mind. They loved being all alone. He let go her hand and pushed himself up from his chair, And helping her up caught sight of her long white hair.
As they stood he pulled loose her bun and let it flow free, And as the breeze caught, he wished she would let it be. He ran his arthritic fingers through it and gazed into her eyes. He smiled a toothless smile. “Come, my love, I have a surprise.”
It was not far to walk though they could not move fast, The old oak tree on the hill was a big part of their past. Picnics, romance, shade on a hot summer’s day, Their names carved in a heart after the school play.
And now he took his love to the oak tree once more, A picnic lunch awaited and more romantic than ever before. It was not long before the rain caught them, and the wind blew, They could not run, but they danced to the weathers tune.
With love there is always a price, a heart loved, a heart lost, As with such, I think they knew their love carried a high cost. A dance in the rain, farewell kiss and a hug, hand in hand, Heading for home, cuddled in their bed, glasses on the nightstand.
They never awakened but on their faces was a smile, They were at peace, and that proved that it had all been worthwhile. The oak tree held their memories and now it held their graves, Two loves, side by side under the oak tree, the branches in the wind wave.
Farewell my love, farewell.

Donald, Please do not apologize. There is no need. I am always willing to listen to advice. I have enjoyed our conversations. I also did not think about it becoming a song. I am not exactly more experienced, just going with the flow. Best of luck to you as well. Oh, and experience means nothing if you are an unknown. Have a great night.
Ladyreck,
So sorry...
I was trying to give advice to someone more experienced than I am. I didn't know.
Best of luck to you.
Donald, I have many self published books on Amazon. I publish through create space as a paperback and they send my files to kindle for publishing. That is the easy part. The hard part is so many are doing it and I have to do my own advertising. That is the hard part. I actually have a series of books. I just published the 12th in the series. Three poetry books,(oops four) and one horror, and two adventure.
https://www.amazon.com/-/e/B00JOVRE78 All are paperback and kindle except for the horror. It is kindle only
Ladyreck,
Once you copyright your material(yes ALWAYS do that) maybe you can self publish just to get noticed. Amazon kindle lets you do that. Then you can promote it. I have a book on there and actually sold 2 copies. (Well better than none)
Laura Prime it is okay. No. I can only delete my comments not others. Mine is only report or share. When I make a comment I can edit and delete
If you look to your right there is a line of three full stops if you go to your OST to me you can take it iff your feed as I have done
I am so sorry I am new to the forum and seems I have posted in the wrong place it’s quite a strange posting regim. My heartfelt apologies. I will see if there is a way to delete it .
Donald, thank you for the encouragement. Maybe someday the right person will discover me.
Ladyreck..But the writers are the ones that make the bucks. When Whitney Houston took'I Will Always Love You' to #1 for 2 months back in the '90s, Dolly Parton made several million $$ in royalties.
So keep up the great work!
Same here. Oh well, maybe someone will come along that can sing.
Ladyreck,
You really do not what to hear me sing. Even in church it is bad.
It is a good thing that The Lord said, Make a joyous noise, because that's what comes out of my mouth, noise.
Justice Obiri I have a long time ago. I collaborated quite a bit on yahoo groups. I moved. Lost internet for a while group disbanned and lost touch with my team mate. Thank you for asking and reading.
Donald S. Young Gloversville, would you like to try your hand at it? I am a horrible singer? Thank you for the compliment.
Farewell, My Love, Farewell.. is what true love, unconditional
