My daughter is amazing,
Her name was going to be Holly
But, when she was born,
She looked so small and jolly
My daughter became Lauren,
I also noticed, she had piano hands,
She was born so full of love,
caring for others expectations and demands.
She gave as a child,
even her favorite toy,
everyone that met her,
Expressed such awe and joy
She moved into her teens,
when through a brief phase,
but unlike her friends,
She had a mother to raise.
Her mother has an illness she lives with,
bringing on much pain,
although it is not life threatening,
on others it can be a drain
Lauren took it upon herself,
to give extra help and love,
She always took care of responsibilities,
Instead of following others, rising well above
Even though she had more responsibility,
Lauren went overboard for a teen,
Coping with my illness, top of her class
She is every mother's dream
She then was off to college,
She was accepted at top schools out of state.
Lauren didn't want to be to far away,
So she stayed close to home, didn't even date
One time she made an exception,
had a date with her professor,
they fell in love and married,
Her love for me no lesser
She worked a full time job,
got her accelerated master's degree
no matter what life brought her way,
She always worried for me.
Her husband was hired out of state,
His field of expertise so rare,
He had to take the offer,
She worried more about not being there
No matter what I tell her,
She is this way to all,
She would not be my Lauren,
If everyday there wasn't a phone call
Now I am expecting my first grandchild,
I try so hard to set her free.
instead of thinking of herself,
everyone comes first or my Lauren she would not be.

In deed a "Lauren is every mother's dream". Nice piece
What an exceptional young woman. Beautifully written
