As sultry summer bids adieu
And wet and soggy Monsoon departs
A grand parade of foliage,
Yellow, orange, and sepia
Become a cynosure of coloured bliss
Autumnal wind undresses
As bright robes of leaves fall to the earth
With cool zephyrs susurrations
The leaves start a dance
A willful wafture before they touch the ground
White pillowy clouds float leisurely on an azure sky
Below fields of feathery Kash Grass sway joyfully in the breeze
Ushers Goddess Durga to this earth from her heavenly abode
Filling our hearts with hope, romance, and magic.

We absolutely love Susmita Mukherjee's poem "An Indian Autumn". It captures the beauty of the season so perfectly with its vivid imagery and vivid description of the foliage. The way she describes the autumnal wind undressing the trees is particularly powerful. The poem is truly a celebration of the beauty of nature and the changing of the seasons. Highly recommended!
