Poet Bio

I am a Poet and Children’s Author. I am a Mother of three children, they really are the inspirations behind my children’s storybooks. I’m also a Granny to three soon to be four Grandchildren. I am a hands-on Granny at 57 years old and I love days out and collecting my Grandchildren from School. I love running and although I have been unable to run for about 8 months I am back in the Gym and hope to have a short run in the next few days. I currently work three days a week as a Project Manager arranging the installation of businesses very large internet circuits, anything from 10Mbps all the way up to 10Gbps. I would love to write full-time but sadly it is not to be. I love Football, Rugby,Formula1, Music Festivals and Reading. My favourite Formula 1 Team is Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton. My all-time favourite Musician is Elvis he’s been a love of mine since I was 11 years old, he died the day after my 16th birthday. Last year I visited Memphis and Graceland’s on what would have been Elvis’s 83rd birthday, it was very emotional and a fantastic memory to have and we made friends with two American Ladies who we now keep in touch via Facebook. I love travelling with my husband we have a bucket list that we are making our way through.

Why you choose to be a member of Realistic Poetry International

I found RPI on Twitter with their Picture Prompts and loved the challenge. I soon realised it had a community online and have enjoyed watching them grow. I am now a 2-star Member and don’t believe I would get the support and variety of services that RPI offer from any other website. From Picture Prompts, Word of the Week, Book Reviews, Entry into the brilliant The Valiant Magazine and just the opportunity to read a vast variety of Poems from such amazing Poets and Poetesses around the world. Their magazine The Valiant is a beautiful magazine and the talent in it is breath-taking, including the young children who will blow your mind with their poetry on subjects such as exercise. Edition IV, the latest edition has many wonderful Poems, a short story and a discussion on the Death Penalty, if you haven’t got one then I suggest you buy it online. RPI thank you for all the amazing support you have given me, online, on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram these last two years.

Poetry is important to me because

I love to write poems, stories and poetic tales. I love writing about my environment. We all live busy lives and writing takes me to a peaceful place it’s just me and my pen or laptop and that is priceless some days. Not everything I write is for sharing, some things are just for me or me and my family.

I came to writing late after having an accident, I decided to pursue first writing Poetry and then writing Children’s stories. I have published through AuthorhouseUK three children’s books to-date and I have a couple of others in the pipeline. I have also self-published through Amazon a collection of Vampires, Ghosts and Knights Poetic Tales and I have ideas for other collections in the pipeline too. I came joint first (with two others) in an RPI competition on What Love Means. I have had two entries into the Valiant Hero Magazine. The first Two Roads Ahead inspired by Robert Frosts the Road Not Taken. The second, A Vampires Tale, is a Poetic Tale which is published in my collection of Vampires, Ghosts, Knights.
